Tools of the Trade
EMAIL - The most convenient method for eTherapy
Process
You send an email to your eTherapist and receive a detailed response via email, usually within 48 business hours.
Benefits
Convenience - You can write, read and answer emails whenever it is convenient to you.
Immediate Expression - When you want to express a thought or feeling to your eTherapist, you can do so in the moment, without having to wait for an appointment.
Recall - If you keep your emails, you will have a record of the entire eTherapy experience that may be helpful to reference in the future.
Drawbacks
No Immediate Feedback - It may take as long as 48 business hours to receive a reply from your eTherapist.
Choices
"Regular" Email - You can utilize any email address you already have or create one just for eTherapy. Note that most email is sent in "plain text", meaning that it can be read by anyone who does the work of intercepting it.
Secure Email - There are methods you can use to ensure the privacy of your email. I highly recommend Hushmail, which encrypts your email, even to those who aren't using the service. It's also FREE, and you can purchase extra storage space if needed.
